Will she go solo in Phase 4?

For as long as Black Widow has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have cried out for the chance to see Scarlett Johansson's secret agent turned superhero Avenger in her own solo flick. And time and time again, Marvel president Kevin Feige has stated his vague intentions to produce such a film in the near but non-specific future (without ever fully committing to it).

Which means that nothing has happened regarding the Black Widow movie, of course, because .

It's that time again, however, because another brave soul has dared to ask Feige where that Black Widow film he promised everyone is, and - once again - the Marvel president offered up a characteristically ambiguous response. Talking at a Captain America: Civil War press day, Feige said:

"Yes, for sure, I think Widow at some point would be great. But when you start talking about things that are now four/five years away... Sometimes we do that. Doctor Strange has been talked about for ten years. But we're focused on the next nine movies, which is a lot, between now and 2019."

Before we get all excited about the prospect of this happening, we have to consider Feige's choice of words here. He "thinks" that "at some point" the movie "would be great." Basically, he's saying that he would love to see the movie, of course, because he loves the idea of a female superhero flick, of course, but "at some point" doesn't give us anything solid to go on.

Then he mentions that Doctor Strange took ten years to make as a sort of "Hey, just be patient with us, guys - it'll happen." Trust me: Marvel aren't going to make a Black Widow movie if we have to wait ten years for it and Scarlett Johansson turns 41-years-old. That just isn't how things work in Hollywood.

What he might have said when he asked about this flick? "We're gonna wait and see how that Wonder Woman movie does over at DC."
