Almost two years to the day after it was announced at Comic Con 2014 by Warner Bros, the trailer for Kong: Skull Island has landed, reminding everyone that this very much is a monster movie.

It looks as though we're in for a lot of action, with a distinct Predator flavouring (particularly with Samuel L Jackson's obviously doomed bad-ass soldier) mixed with liberal dashes of Jurassic Park.

And of course, the most important ingredient is the biggest Ape who's ever appeared on a big screen. Seriously, he's huge.

The tone also feels like it's going to fit easily alongside Legendary's Godzilla reboot - which is handy since the two monsters will team up in the very near future.

As previously indicated, this version of Kong will be the largest that the big screen has ever seen. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts offered some dimensions of the star of the show: "This is going to be the biggest Kong there’s ever been. Not 10 foot or 30 foot, but a 100-foot ape.”
