L.A. CONFIDENTIAL director helms clone thriller GEMINI MAN
Disney have set director Curtis Hanson (8 MILE, L.A. CONFIDENTIAL) to helm the action thriller GEMINI MAN. It's a project that has been in development since 1997 would ya believe. It was originally pitched by Darren Lemke but it has been tossed around more men than Paris Hilton for the past 10 years, with the latest draft coming from David Benioff (25TH HOUR, TROY). GEMINI MAN is about an aging NSA agent who tries to retire and is then targeted for death. He discovers that his assassin is a younger cloned version of himself. Variety also tell us this fact...

The director best known for "Wonder Boys" and "L.A. Confidential" will be taking on his first cloning tale. For some reason Variety are surprised he hasn't tackled cloning before, as if it's like this popular genre like sci-fi or romantic comedy and a subject that every director will have tackled by his stage of his career. And I love that they also hint there's more to come. This being his "first" after all. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing for Disney which brings memories (despite Bruckheimer not producing this movie, it just feels like a movie he could have) of the Arnie clone saga THE 6TH DAY. Which is a rather unfortunate and unflattering comparison.
