One week before his first significant studio effort The Lincoln Lawyer opens and director Brad Furman has found himself a follow-up gig with Black Swan's Oscar nominated director Darren Aronofsky, producer Scott Franklin and their Protozoa Picturs banner. 24 Frames say Furman is to direct Intricate, a drug drama based on the true story of a highly touted college basketball recruit who gets involved in the drug underworld after his hoops career doesnt pan out. At the time, the New York narcotics trade is rife with violence and connections to the burgeoning rap industry. When you remember that Aronofsky came onto the scene with the drug drama Requiem For A Dream, which rivals Trainspotting for it's glorification & at the same time harrowing depiction of substance abuse, you can see why he would have interest, albeit only producing, in bringing this tale to the big screen. No screenwriter has been locked in just yet. Our review of The Lincoln Lawyer will be posted next week.
