The fourth Mad Max film, that has been in development hell ever since the release of 'Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome' in 1985, has finally started filming. Mad Max: Fury Road is set shortly after the events in Beyond Thunderdome with Inception and The Dark Knight Rises actor Tom Hardy taking over the role of Max Rockatansky from Mel Gibson. Little is known about the plot apart from that involves the transport of ''five sisters'' in a convoy that is attacked and its Mad Max who has to save the day. Model turned actress Abbey Lee Kershaw who I'm assuming is one of the five sisters, posted some tantalizing behind the scenes shots on her Tumblr. Taken on location in Africa, the one that will get most people excited is the photograph of the very ''Mad Max,'' scary looking tanker. The other sisters in Fury Road are being played by Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Adelaide Clemens and Transformers star, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who posted this photograph of them taking a break in-between filming. Tom Hardy has been seen growing a huge beard for the role and his co-star Charlize Theron was spotted with a shaved head. She admitted that she is excited but scared shitless by starring in the film;
'I feel like the original 'Mad Max' created such a vivid world, that to go back and re-imagine it and kind of replay in that sandbox sounds like fun to me. George really created a female character that I've never read anything like this. I mean, I'm scared shitless!'
Mad Max creator George Miller is back in the director's chair so fans have high hopes for this follow-up. Mad Max: Fury Road is set for release (fingers crossed) in 2013.
