The hawkeyed workers over at Coming Soon caught a glimpse at and have blessed us with a photo of Martin Scorsese€™s next feature, the recently re-titled Hugo and it's teaser poster. The auteur who brought us Goodfellas, Taxi Driver (which I must add was great seeing at the cinema back in June) and The Departed, to name but a few, is taking his first foray into the 3D world as well as bridging the family market with his adaptation of Brian Selznick's illustrated children's book The Invention Of Hugo Cabret. The film tells the tale of Hugo (Asa Butterfield) an orphan who lives in the walls of 1930€™s Paris train station. Along with an eccentric girl named Isabelle (Hit-Girl Chloe Moretz) and her godfather (Ben Kingsley), Hugo embarks on a mysterious adventure which may unlock many deep, dark secrets whilst also delving into the origins of cinema itself. With Scorsese directing and Johnny Depp interestingly as co-producer/cameo-ing the cast was always going to be exceptional, and there is no denying that. Hugo co-stars Jude Law, Sacha Baron Cohen, Christopher Lee, Ray Winstone, Emily Mortimer and Michael Stuhlbarg (lead in the amazing A Serious Man). As well as a magical cast the poster too seems a touch on the whimsical side and I trust Scorsese to deliver yet another hit. Now all we need is a trailer to further wet our appetites. Here's the poster:

I must confess, 2011 has been a terrible year for cinema so far, however this and the other winter releases look set to resurrect some hope in this bitter, old film geek. Hugo Cabret is out November 23rd in both 3D and 2D and can€™t come quickly enough.
