Marvel Release Official Image Of Ant-Man Battling Yellowjacket

Say hello to your newest Marvel villain.

By Brendon Connelly /

It hardly looks like a fair fight, with Ant-Man reduced to just a couple of inches in height and Yellowjacket looming over him at full-scale, but that's the beauty of Ant-Man's powers. He might be small when he shrinks down like this, but the force of his punches has been increased, not decreased. This image of the two insect-themed characters at battle comes from Entertainment Weekly and their summer movie promo. While either or both of the characters in this shot might be no more than CG, or perhaps a stunt man, they're being played by Paul Rudd and Corey Stoll in the movie. The same report features a few quotes from director Peyton Reed who clarifies that while a few days of additional photography have been scheduled for this film - just like they are for any big-budget picture of this kind - he hasn't shot them yet, so rumours of recent reshoots were just bunkum. Ant-Man almost certainly won't eclipse The Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015's box office charts, but I bet it's going to scupper pretty much everything else. Especially when word of mouth gets around - whispers from near the production say that, despite the nightmarish circumstances of its pre-production, Ant-Man is coming together superbly. I was very glad to hear it, I can tell you. Time for me to get cracking on that Inch High Private Eye spec script, don't you think? According to the current schedules, Ant-Man crawls into US and UK cinemas on July 17th, but I'm prepared to bet you it will actually open in the UK on the 16th or before. It's the British Marvel advantage, and I don't think we're about to give it up.
