Matt Damon Is Back In First Trailer For Jason Bourne
And there's a new poster to go with it.
"Jesus Christ, it's Jason Bourne!"
Universal Pictures have released the first trailer for Jason Bourne, following on from the previous teaser that aired during the Super Bowl. Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are both back for this one, having sat out The Bourne Legacy, and it really does look as though the series is going back to its roots.
The trailer, which you can see below alongside the new poster, once again shows Bourne in conflict with the government and the people who made him this way, and now he remembers everything. Set 12 years after the last Damon-starring Bourne movie, The Bourne Ultimatum, it looks as though it'll continue to pull at those threads, with the trailer showing him remembering parts from the past movies. However, it's also getting an update, with a Snowden-esque leak seemingly what brings him back into the fold.
There's also plenty of the action that made the original films so popular as well though, including a one-punch bare-knuckle fight in the desert, a thrilling chase sequence in Las Vegas, and Bourne taking out his enemies with a chair leg. Naturally.
As well as Damon and Greengrass, Julia Stiles is also returning as Nicky Parsons. The new additions, meanwhile, include Tommy Lee Jones as the director of the CIA, Riz Ahmed as a tech specialist, and Alicia Vikander in an unspecified role, though she appears to be working with Jones.
It certainly looks like the Bourne franchise is back to doing what it does best, and with Damon and Greengrass back there's plenty of cause for optimism.
Jason Bourne is scheduled for release on 29 July, 2016.
