After around 50 hours, 22 movies, 11 years, and three Phases, the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it has reached its end.

Avengers: Endgame represents the culmination of all that storytelling and character work - collectively known as The Infinity Saga - in a way that's almost completely satisfying. It wraps up a number of character arcs, kills off a couple of beloved heroes, and really gives the sense of an ending.

However, this being the MCU, it's also done with an eye on the future. After this summer's Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is the actual last film of Phase 3, we're going into more uncharted territory. Marvel have plans to expand further into TV with Disney Plus, offer up a few sequels, and introduce some new heroes too, all of which Endgame nods to.

Honourable Mention: Hulk Is Still Around

Marvel kept Bruce Banner/Hulk mostly hidden from the trailers, and it's easy to see why: as speculated, the two warring personas have managed to find a middle ground, and Marvel have got themselves a man who can do both, combining the brains of Banner with the brawn of Hulk.

There's admittedly not a great deal of setup for the character's future, but it's important to note that he should be a part of it in some way. He's not only found a sense of inner-peace with who he is, but Mark Ruffalo still has one movie left on his contract, and it'll be very interesting to see when and where Professor Hulk turns up next.
