More uninspired choices for JUSTICE LEAGUE
40-50 young actors over the weekend auditioned for parts in the Justice League of America movie. We have the names of some of them...
I think it's becoming more and more evident that the Justice League movie we all hoped could be the most awesome comic book flick ever, is actually going to turn out into the film we all feared it would. I know you can't judge a movie by it's casting choices but Jesus, some of the names we have heard so far have been terrible, and it doesn't get much better with this report. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director George Miller has had a busy weekend. He flew that massive long flight from his home in Australia to watch 40-50 young actors audition for various parts in his movie, with more expected to take place today... leading us to believe that all roles or the majority have not yet been cast. The trade confirm that Adam Brody (The O.C.) auditioned, which we reported on Saturday was expected to happen. This was probably for the role of The Flash, but there was no mention of Justin Long in the trade's report. I actually don't hate the choice of Brody and if your gonna go young, then why the hell not? They also confirm that Common read for the part of the Green Lantern. Here are the new names. TIME TO PANIC...

Some of those are sure to raise a few eyebrows. Those 19 year old's surely don't have a chance of being cast right? How young are they going with this thing... it's not the TEEN TITANS!
All the choices do nothing to excite me except, I like Mary Elisabeth Winstead... she might be ok as Wonder Woman. I think she plays a better damsel in distress than a superhero, but I've enjoyed her work in Death Proof, Final Destination 3 (though the movie sucked) and Live Free or Die Hard... though she is so much better than the screentime Len Wiseman used her for.
All these auditions were said to have taken place without the use of costumes, but everyone's performance was taped... and let's hope somewhere down the line they are all put on a DVD, so we can really see what it was like when a 19 year old auditioned for the part of The Flash!
There's a real problem here and it's that they are casting for a long running franchise before it has even begun. Look at the casting for X-Men. They didn't go for 19 year olds, they went for the best people they thought could do the part, around the 25-33 range, and they did that pretty well.
Fox got three movies out of that cast and two upcoming spin-off's, with the potential for more (none of them are too old to carry it on). This is way too young from where I'm sitting and it's turning out more like Sky High than Justice League.
