More VAMPIRE movies, David Goyer attached to direct

From the creator of HELLBOY comes demonic vampire movie set during WWII.

Is their a social meaning for the amount of vampire films being greenlit this year? It's not like there has even been a good vampire movie recently for this craze to take off. I mean, I can kinda understand the zombie comeback with the success of things like 28 DAYS LATER and it's sequel along with DAWN OF THE DEAD, SHAUN OF THE DEAD and the fact that George A. Romero is working again, but not vampires. I love it though, I like my monsters and vampires. This one sounds like one of the coolest so far... The graphic novel Baltimore, or the Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire from Mike Mignola (the creator of HELLBOY) and Christopher Golden has been picked up by New Regency, with David Goyer set to direct from a script written by the two authors.
Just-published by Bantam, the graphic novel tells the story of the awakening of supreme evil on Earth. Lord Henry Baltimore is bitten by a demonic vampire bat on a WWI battlefield. The plague destroys his family, and Baltimore creates a team to hunt and fight the Red King, the embodiment of all evil.
Period vampire movies are always the most interesting and there's some pedigree here with the fact it comes from the creator of HELLBOY. Goyer has yet to helm a movie I can honestly say I've liked yet but he's a pretty ambitious guy. On the horizon he has MAGNETO (which will likely be his next movie), SUPER MAX (his Green Arrow in Prison movie), THE INVISIBLE MAN (remake, or reimagining), SCANNERS (remake of Cronenberg's movie, though he is only writing the script to this), HERE THERE BE DRAGONS (movie about Tolkien/Lewis as teenager adventures, but he is only producing at this point). All those projects I have a huge interest in, even if one of them really shouldn't be remade. Add this Vampire movie, and once again Goyer is working with material that I want to see made correctly. Interesting to see how all this develops but I'll be surprised if he does anything other than MAGNETO, pre-strike. source - variety
