Morgan Freeman Doesn't Think Ben Affleck Is Going To "Beat" Christian Bale's Batman
Does anyone?
asked about his opinions on this month's why-did-it-take-so-long release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he doesn't sound sold on not only Ben Affleck in the role of Batman, but the film as a whole. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said;
Morgan Freeman has been "You know, I'm happy for Ben, but I don't know how that's gonna work. Because the Dark Knight was almost 'it.' Pretty much 'it'. Did you see Batman Begins? I don't think you can beat that."If the former Lucius Fox wants to feel proud of the Batman trilogy he was a part of, more power to him - and why wouldn't you? It's seen as the definitive on-screen Batman by pretty much everyone, at this point. Christian Bale also responded to Freeman's comments, and was perhaps a little more generous and gracious in regards to Ben;
"Everyone brings their own element to that -- Ben will do that as well. I think the trailers are looking great and I'm looking forward to that. But right on for Morgan for saying no one will ever beat that, I very much like him."Affleck and director Zack Snyder definitely have an uphill battle to climb considering the act they're following, but hopefully it's just inspired to do something 'different' rather than 'better' - which, from the outside looking in, it looks like they have done. The quality of the final film remains to be seen, however. At the end of the day, as fans, we get to have both. No one will ever take the Nolan trilogy away from you. And when it comes to Snyder's take on things, at the very least you're going to get Batman and Superman beating seven shades of sh*t out of each other - what's not to like?
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is released on 25th March.
