New Control Trailer
Joy Division are. In the late 70s their dark, atmospheric, stripped-down rock practically invented post-punk. The suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980 propelled the band to success far greater than they might have achieved if he had lived. Though Curtis' story was part of 24 Hour Party People, it's in Anton Corbijn's upcoming Control that we'll see a more fully realised account of his life. A new trailer, which comes courtesy of Collider, gives a taste of what we can expect from the film. Control got rave reviews at this year's Cannes and considering his history with the band, director Corbijn seems like he was born to make this film. You can still hear the influence of Joy Division in many bands today (I'm thinking of Editors and Interpol) and "Love Will Tear Us Apart" has to be one of the most covered songs of all time - a new one seems to pop up every week. The band have this mythic aura surrounding them and hopefully Control will be able to harness that and bring it to the screen. source - Collider
