New Poster: PRIEST Looks Like It Takes Place in Gotham City!
In many ways the myth of the vampire is a perfect analogy for the medium of cinema. Sexually predacious, sinister and feeds hungrily on the blood of other media, art and even films. In 2011, this even extends as far as the iconography only recently appropriated in the public consciousness, including its promotional material. Among the more flagrant examples of this artistic cannibalism is the new poster forScreen Gems' horror/thriller Priest from Legion director Scott Stewart, below... Wearing its Batmanallusions very firmly on its sleeve, Priest will attempt the uneasy task of making priests into rockn' roll kick-ass superheroes, rather than censorious child-abusers. If the films trailer is any indication, it will seek to do this buy leaning heavily upon The Matrix, The Exorcist and, of course The Dark Knight, amongst others in a story world in which humans are engaged in a cross-generational war against vampires.
