Thats right- the V Man is back behind the wheel in the latest in the seemingly endless series of Fast and the Furious films, Fast Five. The originals heady cocktail of testosterone, petroleum and adrenaline propelled Vin Diesel into the public consciousness where he sought to carve a niche for himself as the heir to action heroes like Willis, Stallone and Schwarzenegger. Somehow the second sequel to The Fast and The Furious stumbled on without their original muscle-bound protagonist but become less popular and distinct and Diesel- having attempted to branch out as an actor- had increasingly fallen upon hard times and returned to the franchise with 2009's popular Fast & Furious. Now, with both parties still badly in need of each other, Vin Diesel and the franchise have reteamed for a fifth high octane instalment, happy to turn the volume up to eleven:Fast Five will also star Dwayne The Rock Johnson and the returning Paul Walker with the director of all the series sequels thus far, Justin Lin, behind the cameras once again. As we reported recently, Diesel is about to direct himself with a web-series The Ropes, and also has returns to several of his most successful franchises on the cards including XXX and The Chronicles of Riddick in an all-out assault to try and regain his formerly high-level profile. Fast Five is produced by Universal Pictures and is released worldwide on April 29th.
