Ok, so I'm aware this trailer has been online a few days but I'm just now getting around to chugging through the insane mountain of e-mails I've amassed and for the most part, blatantly ignored over the last few days. I think you will forgive me considering there was quite a big movie released this weekend, with characters that have existed in my conscious for the best part of my reading life. Anyway, after ignoring most of the dredge of e-mails I've been sent, I came across this gem of a trailer for THE LIMITS OF CONTROL, the new movie from Jim Jarmusch. It's his first since the extremely pretentious and possibly the most pointless film of 2006, the odd BROKEN FLOWERS and thankfully, although very much feeling like a Jarmusch picture, this one surely moves into a different kind of genre completely. The movie stars 24 actor Isaach De Bankolé in one of those lead roles, a bit like the BOURNE movies, where it's one iconic attire in various exotic locations, this one in contemporary Spain. Bankole plays a "mysterious loner, a stranger in the process of completing a criminal job." and holds a great screen presence in just a few minutes of film. Bill Murray, John Hurt, Gael Garcia Bernal, Tilda Swinton (who I thought was Angelica Huston when I watched the trailer but apparently not) co-star. WATCH THE TRAILER IN HD RIGHT HERE! Focus Features are giving this one a limited U.S. run from May 22nd and from what I hear, it will premiere at Cannes.
