Oscar Isaac Talks X-Men: Apocalypse
Turns out, he's a massive fan.
blackfilm.com. Mostly he replies in generalities regarding which versions of the character have been used as inspiration, but this also reveals the fact that he's a massive fan.
Oscar Isaac is currently doing the rounds promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens - not that it needs the help - and has been pushed for details on X-Men: Apocalypse by "Theres X-Factor, theres X-Men, theres The Age of Apocalypse, theres the animated series, theres X-Men: Evolution, so when someone says Apocalypse without referring a comic book, its a very general question. They may want to state which is their Apocalypse first. Hes definitely not going to be everyones favourite version of Apocalypse, but hes my favourite version of Apocalypse."He goes on to mention that the character they've created for the film has ended up being a blend of "something from the 80s" and "something new". In the end, these characters are never translated verbatim from the source material, and I'll be looking forward to Isaac's portrayal of the Big A. I particularly enjoyed his mention of the more biblical aspects of the character; as a fan of revisionist history for entertainment purposes, it's good to see that they're not ignoring the character's roots in Egyptian mythology. We'll have to wait until next year to see the extent to which they take the adaptation, and how exactly his costume and make-up looks in motion. I'm slowly becoming more and more sold on his appearance as time goes by. X-Men: Apocalypse is released on 19 May 2016 in the UK and 27 May in the US.
