Walt Disney Pictures have released a new poster for their Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz The Great and Powerful. Set for release March 8th, 2013 €“ the fantasy film reunites lead James Franco with his Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi and follows Oscar Diggs as the small-time circus magician whose dubious ethics (basically he is a conman/showman) who is run out of Kansas and finds himself in the colourful Land of Oz, where a better life and fame is waiting for him. However the three witches of Oz, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams) aren€™t so sure he is the Wizard the people of Oz have been expecting. Oscar finds himself drawn into the apocalyptic problems facing Oz and its inhabitants and will need all his magic and illusion to fight off the evil threat to save the day! The film also stars Zach Braff, Abigail Spencer and the ever wonderful Bill Cobbs. The zany poster then definitely exudes an €œImaginarium of Doctor Parnassus€ vibe with some Tim Burton-ish aesthetics dipped in. Also, Franco is an interesting choice for the mysterious Wizard but what I€™m really stoked about is Sam Rami€™s approach to those three witches. The last time Rami decided to put a witch onscreen, it was in 2009 and looked like this... How much leeway do you think the Disney folks are allowing him when dealing with the film€™s supernatural elements? .
