Note to budding screenwriters: there's been a fair few time travel spec scripts sold lately, so whatever thriller/rom-com/actioner you are working on that every studio in town has already passed on, or you can't gain the interest of an agent to represent you - why not add a little time travel to the plot? Everyone else is doing it. The latest is Timeless, a Bill Kelly (Enchanted) written spec script focusing on a widowed man who uses the fortune his dead wife left behind to build a time machine to see her one more time and settle an unresolved argument. Wow, that must have been one helluva fight! The rather nuts premise has caught the interest of frantic actioner Phillip Noyce (Salt), who wants to direct. It could even be his next film as trying to catch a free moment in Angelina Jolie's schedule to make a Salt sequel hasn't proven to be easy.Interestingly, Warner Bros. recently paid six figures for a Mike Thompson written spec script titled Timeless that they hoped to make with Back to the Future's Robert Zemeckis but that one looks way off, so Noyce could easily beat that project out of the gate here.
