Personally, the one Pete Postlethwaite role that always comes to mind is Danny, the passionate conductor of a Colliery Brass Band in the Brit classic Brassed Off where I would suggest his memorable speech is the high point of his great career. The Academy would tell us it was his Oscar nominated turn in In The Name of the Father and I'm guessing his roles in Inception and The Usual Suspects will have been viewed by more people. Or what about the actor's own favourite role which he played frequently, that of Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill in the Sharpe t.v. series, a performance so fantastic author Bernard Cornwell changed the likeness of the antagonist to liken the actor in his subsequent writings.
