Gone! Gone! Power Rangers!

That mighty morphed take on the Power Rangers that flooded the internet this week has caused quite a stir, welcomed by fans but scathed by the company that own the IP. The short that starred Katee Sackhoff and James Van der Beek was laced with death, destruction and drug use - and it was flat out brilliant too. Still, the short got a firm thumbs down from the original shows founders, Saban Brands, who have requested the video to be taken down.

The short films disappearing act from YouTube follows a similar exit from Vimeo after Saban gave the same request to cease and desist. Even with its removal, Power/Rangers still managed to get a whopping 12 million views in just two days. The action is all courtesy of Saban€™s future plans to reboot the Rangers for their own film which is set to arrive July 22, 2016 with Lionsgate. Of course now, the film will have a lot to live up to now in the hope of bettering a film that spent 12 minutes in making the Rangers cool again.

Understandably, the shorts producer, Adi Shankar has announced that he€™ll be taking this fight to court, but whether he€™ll win it is uncertain. It is after all a film focussing on a property Saban didn€™t agree to, in which case you can expect both parties to call on giant metal robots to settle the conflict until one falls down and explodes. That€™s the law, ladies and gents.

Oh, and just in case you didn€™t catch the short you still might be able to find it somewhere, say Adi Shankar€™s Facebook page perhaps. Just a thought.
