Predicting The 9 Star Wars Movies Currently In The Works

Sequels, prequels and spin-offs galore - where'll the franchise head next?

As far as changes go, Star Wars has experienced quite a rapid one. Since being acquired by Disney in 2012, Lucasfilm's premier franchise has expanded on a rapid scale, introducing a brand new trilogy under the eyes of J. J. Abrams and Rian Johnson, before branching out into spin-offs with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the recently released Han Solo follow-up.

No matter your thoughts on the films themselves, the sheer amount of them being made is a departure for Star Wars as we know it. A Marvelisation, some would say, of the Star Wars license is well under way - and with voice actor Tom Kane having recently confirmed that there could be up to nine (yes, nine) Star Wars films in development, that diagnosis would appear accurate.

Whether or not he was referring to the already announced trilogies set to be helmed by Johnson and Game of Thrones' David Benioff and D.B. Weiss is still unclear, but the actor - who voices Yoda in various Star Wars media - also says that at least one will be centred around a familiar face from the franchise.

Regardless, it's an interesting time to be a Star Wars fan, and with little else to go on, all we can do is speculate as to what these future projects could potentially become...
