The Sands of Time pushed back to 2010.

Walt Disney Pictures have pushed back the previously big June 2009 tentpole release Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to May 2010, where it will now enjoy one of the most lucrative spots of the summer - the memorial day weekend. The reason for the move isn't fully explained in their press release but it's probably a combination of one of the biggest tentpole positions of the year being open to them if they sat on the film for a while and also the short amount of time between now and the June 13th date to get this project wrapped and in the can.

No disruption is expected to the shooting of the film, which see's Jake Gyllenhaal as the young prince in sixth century Persia who along with an exotic princess (Bond girl Gemma Arterton) must prevent a villainous nobleman (Ben Kingsley) from poessessing the Sands of Time. The Sands of Time is a gift from the Gods that has the power to reverse time and allow it's possessor to rule the world! Alfred Molina co-stars as a mentor to the Prince, for Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell.
