Prometheus Behind the Scenes Images Reveal An 'Elder Engineer'

Behind the Scenes images are always great but when one shows something not even in the film they become way more exciting.

Some behind-the-scenes "Prometheus" images have cropped up over at Creatures Inc.'s Conor O'Sullivan's Facebook page. They are all very good, and I've posted some of my choice favourites below. However there's one image that goes beyond simple behind the scenes costume tests and set design... We're given an image that presumably expands what's happening in the film's opening scenes and introduces us to an 'Elder Engineer' working alongside the sacrificial Engineer we see disintegrate to create life on whatever planet he's on. This single image that shows an older looking Engineer adds a lot of weight to the ritualistic feelings the opening of Prometheus conjured up and given the older Engineer's outfit adds another level to the almost religious imagery the Engineer's dabble in. Ridley Scott has also been speaking to Movies.com hinting at his desire to do the sequel as well as expanding on the Enginers a bit further;
"So I always had it in there that the God-like creature that you will see actually is not so nice, and is certainly not God. As she says, "This is not what I thought it was going to be, and I think we should get the Hell out of here or there won't be any place to go back to." That€™s not necessarily planted in the ground at the tail end of the third act, but I knew that€™s kind of where we should go, because if we've opened up this door -- which I hope we have because I certainly would like to do another one €“ I'd love to explore where the hell goes next and what does she do when she gets there, because if it is paradise, paradise can not be what you think it is. Paradise has a connotation of being extremely sinister and ominous".
More interestingly, he also added a bit on content to opening scenes of Prometheus and how he wanted to pull audiences in with it;
"I was hoping I had with the fact that you have a sequence at the beginning of the film that is fundamentally creation. It€™s a donation, in the sense that the weight and the construction of the DNA of those aliens is way beyond what we can possibly imagine."
As always, all you "Prometheus" readers out there get your say below. Does this image change your perception of what's happening in the film? If so, tell us your thoughts. Also how many of you are now desperate to see how this scene was originally played out on the upcoming Blu-ray's deleted scene offering? I know I sure am. My feelings are this was cut to make the Engineer's more mysterious, and somehow, someone else being present makes "Prometheus" feel more in line with more conventional "other world civilisations and their traditions' science fiction fare than the theatrical cut of the film presented, with it's more open to interpretation approach. Anyway, here's some of those great images I was telling you about. Head over to the Facebook page for plenty more.
