Quentin Tarantino Calls Prometheus "Dumb"

By Matt Aspin /

Love him or loathe him everyone has something to say whenever Quentin Tarantino is on the scene. Hailed as a master by many and a prick by the rest, Tarantino has courted controversy ever since he broke onto the scene back in the early 1990's with his genre defying style and razor sharp dialogue. While his latest film - Django Unchained - has been thrilling audiences all over the US, grossing over 30 million on it's opening weekend, Quentin has had more pressing matters to attend to like telling the world exactly what's wrong with one of the most highly anticipated movie's of last year, the sci-fi epic Prometheus. In an appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Tarantino touched upon the films he went to see at the cinema last year. One of those films was Prometheus:

"I loved it and I was disappointed at the same time," Tarantino said.

"On one hand, I was a little disappointed about it.On the other hand, it was actually kind of cool to see such a big-deal science fiction epic by a director like Ridley Scott. There was part of it I actually did like."

He then goes on to explain exactly what he didn't like about the movie:

"There was also a lot of dumb stuff in it, though," he said. "When it got to the point where they're on another planet and then a space cobra literally shows up, opens up its hood and the guy who's in charge of alien creatures goes, 'Hey, little fella! How ya doin?' I was like, uhhhhh.... It's a space cobra!"

So it seems Mr Tarantino was as dumbfounded as the rest of us at some of the outright silly elements of Ridley Scott's (is it or isn't it a) Alien prequel. Perhaps it's about time Quentin showed us all how it's done and crossed over into science fiction and made his own alien movie?
