Ahead of the coming summer blockbuster deluge, April was actually a pretty diverse month for cinema, serving up a few gigantic tentpoles, a ton of art-house hits, and some lower-tier Hollywood offerings that came and went in a flash.

Whether you wanted insane action, tense drama, light comedy, daft animation or straight-up trash, it was all there, ensuring the past month offered something for just about every kind of viewer.

As for what May has in store? Get ready for Alien: Covenant, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Snatched, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Baywatch and much more.
