Ray calls MOTHERS OF TEARS dumb

By Ray DeRousse /

Italian director Dario Argento is widely hailed as a visionary horror director. Everyone who says this is patently wrong. The third film in his unwanted "Three Mothers" trilogy is entitled MOTHER OF TEARS, presumably due to the incessant crying induced in the audience. The movie opens with two women opening a box containing ancient artifacts. Quickly, eveil forces are unleashed. From there, the plot is anyone's guess. The acting, screenplay, and special effects are incomprehensibly awful. The gore, which is both cheesy looking and jaw-droppingly continuous, fails to shock or excite in any way. Unlike films such as THE EVIL DEAD, the gore effects here are so poorly integrated into the tone and editing of the film that they become boredom-inducing. Even Udo Kier - one of the strangest personas in all of cinema - cannot liven this terribly idiotic mess. Skip this dumbass movie. MOTHER OF TEARS IS AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE AT AXEL MUSIC
