The word 'Planet' is featured in all six movies to date in the Planet of the Apes franchise and now the forthcoming seventh movie has finally decided to follow suit. /film have confirmed with 20th Century Fox that the August opening reboot of the Apes franchise is now officially titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes, instead of simply Rise of the Apes. Presumably, Fox were worried that without 'Planet of the Apes' being in there somewhere, audiences wouldn't understand this was a franchise/summer blockbuster and not just some dark sci-fi tale. Originally the movie was going by the name of 'Caesar', a clear reference to Roddy McDowall's ape in Conquest of the Planet of The Apes (1972) and Battle For the Planet of The Apes (1973), and who in this reboot is the first intelligent ape. He will be performed by motion capture expert Andy Serkis in the James Franco led movie (he plays a scientist responsible for the genetically modified Apes) and we will get our first full glimpse at the movie when the trailer is attached to cinema prints (and hopefully online) from April 15th. I have no problem with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, except it's an awkward mouthful and Rise of the Apes worked just fine...
