Robert Downey Jr. aware of THE AVENGERS pressure

IRON MAN himself, Robert Downey Jr spoke to MTV this week and told the site how much pressure is on the talent behind the superhero team-up ensemble THE AVENGERS and how much he hopes the realism that Jon Favreau brought to IRON MAN will carry over for that movie.

€œIf we don€™t get it right, it€™s really going to suck. It has to be the crowning blow of Marvel€™s best and brightest, because it€™s the hardest thing to get right. It€™s tough to spin all the plates for one of these characters,€ Downey tells MTV, later adding: €œThe danger you run with colliding all these worlds is that Jon was very certain that €œIron Man€ should be set in a very realistic way. Nothing that happened in Iron Man is really outside the realm of possibility. Once you start talking about Valhalla and supersized super soldiers and jolly green giants, it warrants much further discussion.€
Which is why Jon Favreau is the best choice to direct this movie. He is currently only attached as executive producer but for me, he seems to be the guy that gets the Marvel universe more than anyone else and you just can't compare THE INCREDIBLE HULK with what he created. They are on total different playing fields. Favreau alongside Sam Raimi, are the two directors who have adapted fully faithful and true to the original comic adaptations of Marvel characters. It's vital they get someone who loves the material to helm this film.
