The film centers on a professor traveling to South America to find out what happened to a film crew that disappeared while shooting a documentary about reputed cannibal tribes. He eventually discovers the remains of the crew and several reels of undeveloped film, which show the disastrous consequences of the crews decision to provoke the natives.
Does anyone else have a problem with this news? Deodato "remaking" his own film, which many people believe to be perfectly fine and was certainly a product of it's time. The only possible reason for this remake is money.... an attempt to capitalize on the new torture porn horror obsession that audiences are flocking to see at this moment in time. On a funny side note... Deodato was sent to jail for a brief time back when the original movie was released and was kept there until he could convince the jury that the actors in his film weren't really killed or hurt on screen! I would take that as a huge compliment for the director.... I wonder if he can do it again! source - bloody disgusting
