Showbiz Spy are as reliable a news source as my old BT dial-up used to be as a service provider but I'm reporting their Zooey Deschanel - Spider-Man - Betty Brant link not because I think they know it's true, but rather because it's so perfect a casting that Sony simply have to hire her. The gossip site say the 500 Days of Summer actress (where she played a secretary) is only in the mix but director Marc Webb knows at first hand just how quirky she is and that's Betty Brant all over. In fact she can do so much with her eyes that they wouldn't even have to give her dialogue to get the character over.Elizabeth Banks (with brunette wig) was criminally underused in Sam Raimi's films and let's hope if Brant is re-introduced that they actually have more for J. Jonah Jameson's secretary to do. Trivia Note: Deschanel's sister Emily, pre-Bones, appeared as a receptionist in Spider-Man 2.
