When television's two biggest names of the last 15 years collide at Comic Con - who between them created no less than Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Alias, Firefly, Lost, Dollhouse, Fringe and the movies Serenity and Star Trek collide.... sit up, and take notice. ProgGrrl has added the EW panel with "The Visionaries" to Youtube. I don't know how long it's going to stay online so grab it whilst you can. Whedon/Abrams chatting for an hour is a nice listen whilst you're working away. Briefly: Joss Whedon confirms he will direct The Avengers, which we've known for months but Marvel/Whedon had never officially commented previously 'because they couldn't afford a press release'. He said he was "outlining" the script, which probably mean's Zak Penn's (X-Men 3, The Incredible Hulk) draft has been tossed aside. He hinted he would take influence from George Perez' run on The Avengers. The movie films next year. Abrams says he is shooting his Close Encounters esque handheld 2D movie Super 8 (his collaboration with Spielberg) in September. Last week, actor Bruce Greenwood said Star Trek 2 would shoot in January but we think that's a little early and we are betting it'll be March/April time. Abrams won't confirm he will direct (don't worry, he will).
