Sena directing Beckinsale in Whiteout

By Matt Holmes /

(Gone in Sixty Seconds, Swordfish) is set to direct the Greg Rucka graphic novel series Whiteout for a feature adaptation. Production Weekly report that Kate Beckinsale is in talks to lead the film. More info from Coming Soon... Written by Erich and Jon Hoeber, Whiteout follows U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko as she uncovers the first murder ever in the Antarctic just as the sun is about to set for six months. She must catch the killer before he leaves the ice or be stuck there with him in the dark for six months. Yet again another graphic novel I have never heard of. Apparently it ran for 4 issues in the late 90's before getting another 4 issue sequel Whiteout: Melt. Sena's previous leave little to be desired for this new feature. You can guarantee any shred of tension that may be present in what sounds like a "loose" plot anyway will be quickly taken away by his pumped up soundtrack that was present in Swordfish and Gone in Sixty Seconds. Poor Kate Beckinsale. Roles in Van Helsing and the Underworld movies have pigeon-holed her as this female action star when in truth, she is a pretty good dramatic actress. Having said that, could there be a better choice for Catwomen for a future Christopher Nolan Batman installment? source - production weekly, coming soon
