Some sites have seemingly gone mad, and decided to call this news official and that it's set it stone. It's far from that, but it's interesting nevertheless.... Zack Snyder's follow-up to 300 will of course be the Alan Moore graphic novel Watchmen, which on Friday I posted the news that Tom Cruise had been close to signing on for the movie, but that eventually fizzled out. During an interview with Sci-Fire Wire, Snyder claims that he is pursuing the idea of again using his 300 star Gerard Butler for the movie but IESB are going as far as reporting that Butler is already cast in the flick. If their sources are Sci-Fi Wire then this is clearly an exaggeration but if they have the news from elsewhere, then maybe it is confirmed? Could it be for the role of Ozymandias that Tom Cruise was touted for? I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't see him as being as close a fit as Cruise for the role. Cinema Blend claim he could be up for the role of Dr. Manhatten or Night-Owl, the latter probably being more of a fit for the actor. Now that 300 is vastly approaching, talk does seem to be turning to Watchmen, so we will keep you informed if anything breaks! source - cinema blend, iesb, sci-fi wire
