More bad news for director Richard Kelly. His long anticipated second movie Southland Tales will be cut by distributors by one hour from the original three hour cut that was so badly recieved at the Cannes Film Festival. Kelly now fears that the movie might not hit theatre's at all. More info from Dark Horizons.. In an interview with Hotdog Nagazine, Kelly says "What's disappointing, frustrating is that now I don't know that Southland Tales will be seen in the United States. Maybe it will, but potentially it could be shown with almost an hour of it missing. I don't quite know what that film is". Kelly's debut movie Donnie Darko totally blew me away a couple of years ago. I loved it. Although I wasn't so kean on the director's cut of the movie which kind of makes me think that the movie wasn't recieved the way that he intended it to be in the first place. Cutting time out of the movie certainly helped Darko but i'm not sure if cutting a WHOLE HOUR of footage is good for any movie. Hopefully they can pull something off because it will be a disaster if it doesn't make a release. source - female first, dark horizons
