Spy Clip Allows Rose Byrne To Be Very Rude To Melissa McCarthy

From the director of Bridesmaids and The Heat.

A regular part of the modern Melissa McCarthy movie is the scene, or more likely long string of scenes, where somebody is rude to her in a dismissive, often misogynist fashion. It's almost the point of the films, really, to take all of that abuse and then to undermine it. This clip from Spy shows the same thing happening again. Rose Byrne's character stereotypes and shrugs off the very capable spy, Susan Cooper, as played by McCarthy. Maybe there are laughs to be had at McCarthy's expense here, if you're so inclined, but there's also a definite sense that she's in the right, and she has her own private, wry joke or two too.Spy opens across the UK on June 28th though one of the big cinema chains, and you'll know if your local is one of them, will be holding early screenings on May 28th. I'm hoping it's at least as good as McCarthy and director Paul Feig's last film, the intermittently funny, patchy, but sometimes surprising cop comedy The Heat.
