Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Rian Johnson Interview

It's been almost four months since the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but the discussion around the film could sustain four years.

Expectations were subverted and fan theories shattered; plot threads dropped, characters killed off, and the status-quo of the sequel trilogy - and the saga as a whole - irrevocably changed.

To say it was divisive is an understatement. Depending on who you ask it's either ambitious or abysmal, the best or worst of the saga, with fans clashing like Jedi and Sith. There's little in the way of, ahem, balance.

The man at the centre of all of this is writer/director Rian Johnson, who was hired back in 2014 to helm the eighth instalment, long before J.J. Abrams' Episode VII was released. The director behind Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper, and some of Breaking Bad's finest episodes (not to mention one of its most divisive), he delivered, above all else, his vision of the movie with The Last Jedi.

A couple of weeks ago I was able to sit down with Rian ahead of the movie's home release, and discussed all things The Last Jedi.
