And still even more film deals involving Steve Carell post-'The Office'.... This one has been floating around for a while but now THR reports that TV director Charles McDougall has entered talks to direct Carell in Burt Wonderstone, a light-hearted comedy based around a fading Las Vegas magician who accidentaly kills his partner and is consistently outdone by a younger, hipper illusionist, forcing him to rediscover his enthusiasm for magic. McDougall has previously directed episodes of The Office (which involved a magic obsessed Michael Scott!) and he will work from a script by 'Horrible Bosses' writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Carell's forthcoming slate will see him star in Great Hope Springs with Meryl Streep in August before moving on to Burt Wonderstone in the fall. If a director can be found for Dogs of Babel, his latest film deal we heard of this week, that one might film this summer before either of these projects are a go.
