Whatever 20th Century Fox's marketing team tried to come up with for the poster to Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz's action-comedy Knight & Day, a summer spectacle in the vein of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, they surely came nowhere near close in achieving it. At least I hope they didn't. Because if they did, and Fox are 100% happy with this poster, then I have grave concerns about the future of this movie and the future of everything Fox have their name on for 2010. Peter Sciretta of /film snapped this poster for Knight & Day in a lobby at Austin, Texas - stump Cruise legs, penis looking weapon coming out of Diaz's skirt, horrendous silhouettes, awful colour scheme, fonts and all... Usefully, the poster tells us the movie is out "summer". Of course we know it's out on independence day weekend 2010 but it would have been great to tell the Joe Public know that! According to many who have seen Avatar, the first teaser trailer for James Mangold's (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) flick played with certain screenings over the weekend and went down pretty well with audiences. From the sounds of things, the movie might be more of a comedy than we were expecting, and the big laugh from the trailer comes with Tom Cruise's restaurant scene line when he takes Diaz as hostage and proclaims "Nobody move or I'll kill myself then her." See... told ya, that kind of comedy is how to get Cruise back into the hearts & minds of the public. From what I've heard, we can expect the trailer to be online imminently. Let's just hope it's not as absurd as the teaser poster!
