THE A-TEAM trailer hits!

Yes this really is The A-Team, and Fox marketing department hammer that home as best they can.

First thing you'll notice is the crappy format but hey, we weren't suppose to get this till Monday so be grateful we have anything at all right now. Hopefully the second thing you'll notice is how familiar it all feels. Of course I realise it had to have the obvious beats and I'm not really complaining I guess - I know a lot of 80's nostalgists and non-internet folk who will just flip when they see this trailer because they'll instantly know exactly what it is. It is The A-Team, and it goes a long way to tell you as much. I guess we always knew it would have the memorable score, the "I love it when a plan comes together" line, that famous black van and over-the-top set pieces and explosions, all with a high testosterone flavour, and of course the show's opening narrative as the voice-over - these have forever been requirements of an A-Team adaptation and they are all present. But big kudos to Joe Carnahan for putting it all together and actually making it work and apart from that ridiculous tank floating high up in the air machine gun battle, it doesn't look as stupid as it probably could. Hopefully that last scene of the trailer is an anomaly - not a true indicator of what to expect from this.

Liam Neeson looks like he's having fun. I love the intro for Quinton "Ramage" Jackson and I'm unfamiliar with his work in general but he sure looks the part here. Bradley Cooper is a bonified film star (though shouldn't we be seeing a half-naked Jessica Biel and not him - this is aimed at guys right?) and there's way too little of Sharlto Copley as Murdock. Anyway, I might add more when the HD hits on Monday but I'd give the trailer a positive 7.5 or 8.0. It's just let down by that stupid ending.
