Ever since it was announced that Pietro Maximoff's alter ego Quicksilver would be making an appearance in both The Avengers 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past, the rumour mill has being going crazy with just which two actors would don that famous all in one and bring the former villain turned good to life on the big screen in the two guaranteed blockbusters. Well if stories doing the rounds this weekend are to be believed then you can give up wondering who Joss Whedon has picked for The Avengers 2 at least. Cinema Blend reported on Friday that Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson's name is being thrown around as the front-runner for the role. This comes just weeks after it was announced that Fox - who share the rights to the character - would be casting Taylor-Johnson's Kick Ass co-star Evan Peters in the same role for Bryan Singer's follow up to X-Men: First Class. The character, who was voted number 23 in the 25 most important X-Men characters by IGN, is the brother of The Scarlet Witch who will also make her big screen debut in The Avengers sequel. The two twins are the children of X-Men's big bad Magneto though the rights to Magneto are firmly with Fox so any reference to the old family tree is unlikely to happen. Marvel have characteristically refused to comment on the speculation but given Taylor-Johnson's ever rising star in Hollywood and existing comic-book movie chops it would certainly be a sensible move on the part of Marvel. And hey, at least this time he'd actually have super powers! Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers 2 will open in the UK on 1 May 2015.
