The Batman Director Offers A Positive Progress Update
It's looking good, then...
In the year since Matt Reeves has been in charge of The Batman, very little has happened publicly in terms of progress announcements. Sure, we know Reeves is looking at his own story and won't be making a DCEU movie, but beyond that the production story has been dominated by the merry dance of Ben Affleck possibly leaving the role or possibly not leaving it.
If he does go, Jake Gyllenhaal has been installed as the favourite, so it might not be that much of a negative. Which might explain the positivity behind Matt Reeves' latest update on the film, which has come courtesy of Twitter.
When asked about how it's all going, he responded with enthusiasm...
This is particularly good news given the imagined hand-wringing doom that seems to be hanging over almost every other Warner Bros DC property at the minute in the wake of Justice League (besides Wonder Woman 2, anyway).
But then, there shouldn't be any lack of faith in either Reeves or the potential in a new Batman film. It's a damn sight harder to mess a Batman movie up than it is to make a financially viable one. And the director has already "rescued" the Apes franchise from itself, so he has a track record of excellence that will be transferrable.
Let's hope his positivity does turn into something great.
