The Lone Ranger Super Bowl Trailer: Watch Here

By Simon Gallagher /

Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger reunites the Pirates of the Caribbean cast and crew to retell the classic TV story of the masked ranger and faithful side-kick Tonto, in one of three Disney owned properties showing on this Super Bowl trailer reel. But will the presence of Johnny Depp, Verbinski and Lone Ranger lead Armie Hammer be enough to convince fans to go and see it? They can probably count of the POTC audience, and what we have seen so far suggests there is definitely some promise - even if the Western element leaves some questions. This Super Bowl trailer was the perfect opportunity for Verbinski and Disney to really showcase their project, alongside such blockbusters as Star Trek Into Darkness and Iron Man 3, and convince that it is as big a deal as those two. They certainly have the eccentricity element going for them, and there's more than a whiff of the buddy cop movie (albeit supplanted here) about the trailers so far. The official synopsis reads as follows:
Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice-taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
The trailer debuted online ahead of its airing during the Super Bowl. Here's the full The Lone Ranger Super Bowl trailer... http://youtu.be/kkUMrkFdc9U What do you think? Will the Lone Ranger manage to pull audiences in this summer? Share your thoughts below.
