And that's exactly what The Menu is - an imperfect but consistently entertaining black comedy-horror which eschews easy categorisation and goes down some avenues you surely won't expect.
If you're craving some soulful nourishment alongside your horror, look no further, because between its spiky-if-unsubtle social commentary, excellent ensemble cast, and stellar production values, The Menu is quite the rich, sumptuous meal of its own.
With critics and audiences alike largely praising the film so far, it's got everything it needs to become a modest box office hit and endure as one of the year's cult faves.
