It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to meet the muppets on the Muppet Show tonight! That's right "The Muppets...Again", the sequel to the 2011 hit film, now has a title, two new images and more information on the story thanks to Walt Disney Pictures and an interview with Kermit the frog from Entertainment Weekly.
"The idea of this film is that our gang is on this global tour, and were selling out these grand theaters all over Europein Berlin, Madrid, Londonbut we sort of get into a little bit of trouble when we run across my doppleganger. Hes the worlds number one criminal, Constantine, and he happens to look an awful lot like me. I wont tell you any more than that, but lets just say mayhem ensues."
Does mean that Kermit would take on both roles?
"No. We talked about putting me in makeup and having me play both roles, but we decided Constantine needed to be a guy who could do a Russian accent. And, you know, Im a pretty accomplished actor and all, but besides the Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island films, Ive only really ever played myself. The great thing is, I have like 3,000 relatives back in the swamp, so it was quite easy to find a frog who could play Constantine."
When asked about his new human co-stars, Kermit seems to be looking forward to working with the new lineup that includes Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell.
"Ricky Gervais is kind of like a Muppet, if you think about it. He fits right in. Hes about our size. I actually think when this film ends its going to be hard to get rid of him. He keeps following me back to my hotel in London, which is very strange, but were thrilled to have him. Then, of course, we have Tina Feyand its hard to beat Tina. I know her because I was lucky enough to get asked to do a little spot on one of the last episodes of 30 Rock. Shes playing a feisty prison guard named Nadya, which should be fun. Then we have Ty Burrell, whos playing a French Interpol agent. But personally, Im not going to be going to France for the French scenes. Its best if I dont go there. Its a frog thing."
Featuring a slew of surprising celebrity cameos, Disney's The Muppets... Again! will shoot on location in London and in Hollywood, as well as in the famed Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, just outside of London.
