Trailer: Joe Cornish's ATTACK THE BLOCK Invades Your Screens

By Neil Upton /

Now here's something rather special. Anyone familiar with Joe Cornish and his output over the past 15 or so years should know his directorial debut is something to look forward to. From the modest beginnings in the Adam & Joe Show with his good mate Adam Buxton, Cornish has recently found himself working with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Marvel in Hollywood (he co wrote Tin-Tin and Ant Man). From the looks of this trailer, he has learnt a few things along the way and seems to have crafted an ensemble piece which is funny, instantly quotable ("you'd be better off calling the Ghostbusters love") and at the same time a tense sci-fi fright flick. The movie is Attack The Block which depicts what happens when aliens invade a South London council estate and here's the trailer. Prepare to get excited.
Attack the Block is a fast, funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters. It turns a London housing estate into a sci-fi playground. A tower block into a fortress under siege. And teenage street kids into heroes. It€™s inner city versus outer space.. Starring Jodie Whittaker, Luke Treadaway, John Boyega, Alex Esmail, Franz Drameh, Leonne Jones, Simon Howard, Jumayn Hunter and Nick Frost.
Attack the Block receives it's premiere at Texas' SXSW Festival this month before a release in the UK on 11th May.
