TRANSFORMERS 2 will have three screenwriters

Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman will be joined by Ehren Kruger, but they literally have weeks to come up with a script.

The Hollywood Reporter say the writing duo of Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci will return to write the script but this time they will be joined by Ehren Kruger, the horror genre writer who brought us THE RING and THE SKELETON KEY, but was probably chosen because he has worked with the duo on NIGHTLIFE (upcoming Dreamworks movie) and caught Spielberg's eye with his script for the now delayed mini-series THE TALISMAN. The reason Kruger has been brought on board is that Kurtzman & Orci are busy putting the final touches on their STAR TREK screenplay for Abrams AND are also working on the D.J. Caruso movie EAGLE EYE. So the pressure is really on here, because they can't neglect STAR TREK which is a huge production in it's own right, but then they only have a matter of weeks to put a script together for a TRANSFORMERS sequel. Although, you say pressure but then you hear they are being paid $5-7 million between them, and let's be honest here... the sequel will probably be exactly the same as the original, it will be a copy and paste hack job with this amount of prep time. Ironically, the strike has meant that 2009 is going to be filled with movies because so many are being rushed before they are anywhere near ready. Will it be the worst year for the overall quality of work?
