Uncharted Movie: 8 Characters That MUST Appear

There's more to Uncharted than just Drake and Sully.

It was a long road, one of the longest in the recent cinematic memory, but Uncharted is finally hitting cinemas in 2022.

Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg will bring the iconic duo of Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan to life, but the chances of it being anything like the kind of home run Holland’s last movie outing was is slim to none.

Simply put, Uncharted doesn’t appear to be risking breaking the legendary gaming franchise movie curse. Based on the trailers, the movie already seems to have changed enough of the Uncharted lore to alienate fans of the games, and even Tom Holland is already criticising his own performance before it is even released.

After a painful journey through developmental hell, this movie doesn’t really seem to have that much going for it, leaving arguably one of the strongest options for fan enjoyment to be cameos from other characters across the franchise.

Nate, Sully, and Chloe are confirmed to be appearing in the movie, but there is so much room for more to show their faces. In a movie that is almost being sent out to die, these characters could be the only saving grace if done right.

8. Sam Drake

Let’s get this one out of the way with early. It may have taken until the fourth game of the series for Sam to show up, and for anyone to even know about his existence, but he will most certainly show up in the first Uncharted movie.

The story of the movie will follow Nate and Sully on the hunt for Magellan’s treasure, and though he hasn’t been shown or confirmed as of yet, Sam’s presence can already be felt. It was Nate’s older brother that left the breadcrumb trail of clues in the first place, and he who believed there was one last piece of the puzzle missing.

He was namedropped in both trailers, has a so far unexplained previous link to Sully, and there is no way this movie ends without him showing up. It seems certain that he will appear at the end of the story along the path to the treasure he is so deeply connected to.

With it being this obvious, it does beg the question, why bother trying to keep it as a surprise? He looks to be integral to the story, and will almost certainly show his face before the movie is through. How similar he will be to his video game counterpart remains to be seen, however.
