San Diego Comic-Con is always full of surprises, and if you thought Sony's Venom movie was looking a little flat - save for that brilliant reveal of Venom himself in the last trailer - they're adding another symbiote for good measure.

Revealed at the Sony panel, it turns out Riz Ahmed isn't just playing Evil Corporate Leader #5176, but Carlton Drake - also known by many Venom fans as Riot.

Leader of the Life Foundation in the comics - a series of super-soldier symbiotes born from leftover pieces of Venom itself - there's scope for Sony to flesh out their "Venom universe" with different members of the foundation across a string of movies.

Back to the movie we're getting for now, and the silver symbiote was seen in the flesh, but only for the exclusive footage shown to attendees. Chances are a Venom vs. Riot fight will be your standard all-CG finale showdown, but director Ruben Fleischer also noted the creature "He has a unique trait", in that "you don't know when Riot is going to turn up".

Depending on how much Fleischer is leaning into the horror tendencies of the character, random transformations appearing when we least expect it could be one hell of a visual.
