Watch: Man of Steel New Trailer - Our Reaction

By Josh Costella /

Warner Bros have released the third trailer simultaneously at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and online via www.iwillfindhim.com. Luckily, I was in attendance at CinemaCon to witness this amazing trailer on a giant movie screen with thundering Dolby Atmos sound! Without a doubt the third trailer for Man of Steel is one of the best superhero film trailers that has been released to date. I consider it to be a great combination of the previous trailers, including the unreleased San Diego Comi-Con footage from last year. And of course this time it was mixed with truly epic action that fans of Superman have been so desperate to see. I won't break down each portion of the trailer because my words simply would not do what is in the trailer any measurable amount of justice. I do however want to call out a few highlights for me, personally. First though, watch the trailer immediately... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=T6DJcgm3wNY

1. Krypton!

We got our first true glimpse of Krypton and its impending destruction. We also get our first glimpse of Kal-El's birth parents as they are preparing to send their only son to Earth. There's a great exchange between Lara and Jor-El: Lara: "He will be an outcast. They'll kill him." Jor-EL: "How? He will be a god to them." Specifically the "how" from Jor-El is so subtle and matter of fact. I absolutely loved it.

2. Pa Kent

Kevin Costner is Jonathan Kent. There is no denying it anymore. I certainly never doubted his ability but he genuinely made me cry in his exchange with a young Clark Kent. Jonathan Kent: "You're the answer, son. You're the answer to "Are we alone in the universe?" Clark Kent: "Can't I just keep pretending I'm your son?" Jonathan Kent: "You are my son." I don't know how many of you out there reading this right now are parents but as a father, that scene choked me up. And even now after watching it dozens of times, it still does.

3. Action, action, action!

There were some concerns from some people that the previous trailers had not shown enough action to reassure them that this Superman film would truly be any different from what we've become used to. Those concerns have officially been silenced. Superman is back! I hope all of you enjoyed this trailer as much as I did. I'm now more confident than ever that we will be getting the Superman film we've all been waiting for. The thing I love most about Superman is the hope he inspires. This trailer gave me hope that I will see MY Superman again on June 14th.
